01
Visual inspection
We start with the furnace cabinet, flue pipe, gas line and wiring. We look for rust, soot, water stains, loose wire harness connections and signs of backdrafting. This takes about 15 minutes and often reveals problems before we even run the furnace.
02
Component testing
Using a multimeter, manometer and thermocouple tester, we check the gas valve, pressure switch, limit switch, flame sensor and igniter. We measure incoming gas pressure and compare it to the data plate. This is where we catch weak parts before they fail.
03
Combustion analysis
We drill a test port in the flue and insert a combustion analyzer to measure CO, oxygen and stack temperature. Readings above 100 ppm CO or below 80 percent efficiency get flagged. This step takes 10 to 15 minutes and is the most important safety check we do.
04
Heat exchanger exam
We use an inspection camera to look inside the heat exchanger for cracks, holes or separation. A cracked heat exchanger is the number one carbon monoxide risk in older furnaces. If we find one, we shut the furnace down and walk you through replacement options.
05
Report and recommendations
Before we leave, we hand you a written report with photos, CO readings, gas pressure numbers and a prioritized list of repairs. You'll know exactly what's urgent, what can wait, and what it costs. No pressure, no surprise fees.
