Phone triage
You call +14195820227 and tell us the furnace brand, the filter size if you know it, and what the system is doing. We ask whether the furnace is blowing cold air, short cycling, or just due for maintenance. That two-minute conversation tells us which filters and tools to load on the truck before we leave the shop.
02
System check
We shut the furnace down at the switch, pull the blower door, and look at the filter, the blower wheel, and the return drop. A clamp meter on the blower leads and a quick look at the control board tell us whether the motor has been working harder than it should. This takes about 10 minutes and catches problems a filter swap alone would miss.
03
Filter swap
We measure the filter slot with a tape, not the old filter, then install the correct size and MERV rating for your equipment. High-MERV filters are not automatically better; a MERV 13 in a system designed for MERV 8 can choke airflow and cause the same short cycling you were trying to prevent. We match the filter to the furnace, not to the marketing on the box.
04
Airflow verification
With the new filter in, we take a static pressure reading with a manometer and compare it to the furnace data plate. We also check temperature rise at the supply and return. If the numbers are off, we look at the evaporator coil, the ductwork, or the blower speed before we call the job done. You get the readings written on the invoice.
05
Walkthrough and schedule
We show you the old filter, explain what it was catching, and set a realistic replacement interval based on your home. If you have pets, we usually recommend every 60 days; a clean, pet-free house can go 90. We can also set you up on a maintenance and tune-up plan so the filter, flame sensor, and igniter all get checked on the same visit.
